About Erin Carruth

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Hawaii and my Masters degree in psychology from Antioch University in Seattle.  I opened my private practice in south Seattle in 1992.  In the ensuing years I have continued my education in a variety of workshops, trainings, and study programs. My resulting approach is from a psychoanalytic framework, yet I draw upon a variety of modalities including action methods, attachment theory, family systems and sociometry. My therapeutic style is client centered and insight oriented. I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Washington State and my office is located in Tukwila, near Southcenter Mall.

Having said all this I am keenly aware that jargon about therapeutic methods and orientations is confusing. And ultimately, in my experience, it's not the most important component in choosing a therapist. What I feel is of equal importance is the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist which is why I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation. It gives us both the opportunity to discuss your issues, how I might approach them and then we both decide whether we feel we have found a good match.
